Smita Pillai, Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer: The way we’ve defined diversity, equity and inclusion is in a clear framework, which is around Better Workplace, which leads to Better Science, and inevitably leads to a Better World for us. It's not just about race and gender. It's so many other dimensions, whether it's race, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity. Your experiences around the world. Your cultural background, your language. So many different dimensions. Diversity, equity and inclusion truly brings Regeneron’s culture to life.

Ralph Hazlewood, Senior Manager, Research Program Management: Regeneron is committed to identifying and developing the next generation of great scientists and leaders at this company, but more importantly, really looking at acknowledging and celebrating the different perspectives and experiences that these scientists and leaders may have in our goal to building a community and having a Better Workplace.

Smita: So, from a culture perspective, when we want to be a culture that leads with science, you can't lead with science if you don't have people who can challenge, who are curious, who can ask the right questions, and we create the psychological safety for that.

Ralph: Joining Regeneron in advancing this work. I really wanted to build community and recognize the need that we want to expand and uplift additional voices.

On top of that, I think that some of our most important efforts are to bring equity and diversity and inclusion to STEM. To make sure that we can find the top talent, wherever it may lie, and elevate it to a point where it can make a contribution. Because we have so many existential threats facing humanity. As a society and as a humanity. So, our success and our future as a species and as a plant demands that we take advantage of diversity and equity.
