Sustainable Communities
our approach to building
sustainable communities
Our commitment to a better world extends beyond our labs
Our mission to make the world healthier goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to support our communities and protect and restore the planet. With our employees, we are fostering the next generation of scientific innovators through STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, reducing our environmental impact and building more equitable communities.
As a science-driven business, we acknowledge there are serious local, regional and global climate change impacts. We are compelled to operate responsibly and contribute to efforts that will help mitigate temperature increase, water scarcity, ecosystem disturbance and other harmful impacts associated with climate change.
In 2020, we launched ambitious environmental targets focused on four areas: energy and greenhouse gas emissions, water and waste. We also completed our first Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) climate scenario analysis and published our accompanying TCFD Report on our climate-related risks and opportunities.

Verification statement
In addition to our Responsibility Report, we disclose select environmental, social and governance (ESG) information to Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global environmental disclosure not-for-profit organization. We have responded to CDP Climate Change since 2015 and CDP Water Security responses since 2016.
We engage an independent assurance provider to conduct independent verification of select environmental data.
Responsibility Report
We are committed to transparency and publish an annual Responsibility Report to share our progress.
We are committed to fostering the next generation of scientific innovators who can solve society’s greatest challenges. We direct more than 93 percent of our community investments to supporting STEM education. Regeneron collaborates with the best STEM education partners on local, national and international levels to foster students in kindergarten through high school in three important ways:
Expose young minds to the power of science
We provide access to hands-on science experiences that ignite a spark in students, build connections and positively impact their attitudes toward science.
Equip students with scientific skills
We work directly with students and their teachers to enhance STEM learning, build critical skills and mindsets, and prepare future leaders for STEM careers.
Elevate the best and brightest young scientists
We cultivate, challenge and reward top scientific talent by providing high-quality science research experiences and supporting science competitions.
Our dream when we started Regeneron was to build a company where the scientists would be the heroes. We want scientists to be the next generation's heroes and to develop a pipeline of talent, starting at a young age.

Postdoctoral program
The Regeneron Postdoctoral Program was designed with the goal of being among the best postdoctoral training programs in the country. We’ve created a multi-faceted program that integrates cutting-edge science with didactic training, a seminar series and focused, multi-tiered mentoring.

EXPLORE OUR POSTDOCTORAL PROGRAMWe strive to build resilience in the communities where we live and work. We do this by supporting our employees’ volunteerism and through our strategic philanthropic investments.
At Regeneron, volunteering is an essential part of the employee experience. We encourage our people to give back and create positive social change through individual volunteer efforts as well as participation in our global day of service, Day for Doing Good (D4DG). In 2020, we adapted D4DG to be virtual and nearly 3,000 employees volunteered more than 7,600 hours. Through the power of our employees’ diverse talents, time and leadership, their involvement makes a difference in the lives of many–especially those in underserved communities.

Our COVID-19 community support
Regeneron’s community response focuses on raising critical funds, mobilizing resources and supporting the most vulnerable nonprofits, people and communities around the world. Since 2020, we have provided nearly $2 million in financial support and in-kind donations. As part of our Regeneron COVID-19 Double Matching Relief Campaign, we supported our employees’ giving and select charities by raising $750,000. In Westchester County, we are supporting Afya Foundation which serves as the county’s ancillary PPE supply hub, managing the procurement and distribution of PPE to vulnerable community agencies and federally qualified health centers in need. We are supporting local nonprofits’ capacity and sustainability and COVID aid funds to provide broad financial relief and vital services to patients. Regeneron’s Industrial Operations and Product Supply (IOPS) team assisted New York State by making and donating viral transport media (VTM), a critical component of COVID-19 testing kits that was in short supply.
Giving back to our communities
Day for Doing Good gives teams across the world the opportunity to volunteer in their communities. Projects receive support. Teams build connections. And everyone has some fun–all while supporting worthwhile causes.
