Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna
In high school, I remember buying a 94 pound bag of cement, lugging it into my house basement and starting to mix my samples for my project. I remember I got the cement all over the floor, but no worries. My name is Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, and I am a budding scientist. I had the wonderful opportunity to be a finalist with the Science Talent Search. I didn't win any of the top 10 prizes, but I definitely left being a winner because I realized that the work I was doing was for the community that I was a part of. Being a Black student there, I could use my platform to advocate for students who look like me. To anyone listening to this, you have the potential to make a difference within the STEM field, and I just want to let you know that I am rooting for you.
