George D. Yancopoulos
I was one of those kids who dreamed for his whole life to become a scientist. I was one of these kids who played around back then with hand radios or took apart every little machine and tried to build motors, and I dreamed that I could use the power of science to do something really cool. Part of me didn't really believe it, and then I entered into the science talent search. When they told me I was one of the top winners, all of a sudden I changed. Maybe I could do this. And there may be no other thing that you can do that is more rewarding than to really move the human condition forward. When you think about all the existential threats facing mankind, whether it be climate change, all the diseases that threaten human life, where you think all the answers are going to come from? They're going to come from scientists. I'm George Yancopoulos and I think there's nothing cooler than being a scientist.
